Unearthing History and Making a
Family Tree!
A
Step By Step Genealogy Guide: How to make a family tree.
Genealogy can help you to know where you
came from. There are many ways in which you can learn about
who you came from. With so many various ways to learn about
your family's history, there is no reason that you should not know
where you came from. By taking the time to unearth your
family's history, and making a family tree,
you will learn quite a bit about yourself too.
Family trees are a great way to get started. Whether you do
this on a piece of paper or you actually go into detail and use a
genealogy software program, you will be able to begin tracing those
that were in your family line starting with you and working back as
many years as you possibly can. You may find out some very
interesting things about who is in your past, even. Taking
the time to learn more about who they were and what they did can be
quite interesting in fact.
For example, most people will know who their parents, their
grandparents as well as their great grandparents are. But,
not many will know what happens to their family name past this point.
Do you know what role your family played in the American Revolution,
for example? Or, perhaps your past family history shows that
they came from Europe during the last one hundred years.
You may then want to know what role they played in the middle
ages. Were they part of royalty and prestige lines or were
the members of your family poor? Perhaps there was a famous
inventor in your family's history line? They may have been
part of something quite significantly important.
By taking the time to learn more about their history, many individuals
have unearthed more about themselves then they ever knew. DNA
that is passed down from a parent to a child is very unique and many
times it goes unchanged while it travels down your family
line. That means that you may have many of the similar traits
that your ancestors did. This can open an entire world of
understanding about not only who you are but what makes you, you.
Genealogy can be very interesting and even more so, it can be something
that opens your eyes to your past. Learning about your family
can help you to really see what things that they have done to
contribute to the world as it is today. It can give you a
great look at what role your family has played throughout history.
